Charlie's sad

Terri, Em and Maddy left yesterday. Charlie sure misses them. It was a great week. Before leaving they cleaned the yard and planted flowers in the back yard. Maddy helped mow the grass. Good job!!

Thinking small isn't hard. It's just a habit. A habit with consequences. Same for thinking big.

Charlie has company

Terri, Emily and Madeleine are visiting for a few days. Charlie is very happy to have so much attention. Charlie started to school yesterday. So far he is the smartest and most charming student.

Terri has been pulling weeds and working in the yard plus helping Calvin build a screened in patio. The girls are working hard in the pool. Check out Maddy's new friend.

Optimist's Creed - written almost 100 yrs ago

I promise myself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.
To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the prescence of trouble.
To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

BACK IN TEXAS

As we went through the Dallas area we stopped at the Guests for lunch and to see the new kitchen. It is sooooo Pamela. Very nice and her touch is very obvious.

Charlie and Ginger tried to get aquainted again. Charlie wanted to play but was still intimidated by Ginger's size. He is a champ wiggler.

On to Andrews in the morning.

LOUISIANA again ;-)

We made it by to see Calvin's friend Fred today. It was a good visit for all. He insisted we stay the night but we are ready to be home. Still in Louisiana but getting close to Texas. Charlie seems to think he needs to ride in my lap. Not good. That dog is getting big and heavy. At one point he decided to ride up in the rear window. A motorcylce passed us and he came alive. Barking and just having a fit. He sounds like a really big dog when he barks. Especially inches from my ear.
He was ready to get out of the car this evening. So was I. We are all ready to be home.

Weekend at the Morrisons

Saturday brought a lot of rain. We mainly hung out at the Morrisons house. Terri, Maddy, Em and I did some craft sewing. Made a big dolphin, bed for Lucy and numberous little critters out of washclothes. The girls were trying to keep me from being bored. I have one goal for this summer and that is teaching Miss Em to sew. I want to make sure she has something to do when she gets bored.
Sunday we went to Emily's horse lesson. Madeleine had a pool party. We visited with Brian, Barb and Wendy Sunday evening. Played Wii and ate tacos. Had a nice time. It was good to see them.

Started out this morning for home. Charlie fell right into his travel mode. I'm sure Sweetie and Lucy have been doing the happy dance.

We are in Loxley Al. A neat little town. There is an enormous nursery not far from the motel. Hundreds of green houses. Also a big farmers market. I would like to walk around and check out both. Don't know I can this trip, but something to shoot for in the future.

We found a really nice Municipal park. Calvin and Charlie got some much needed exercise. I was a good observer.

Em's graduation day

Emily graduated from 6th grade on Wednesday, May 30. She was given a special award. The award was in memory of a young lady that passed away serveral years ago. The girls mother presented the award and said if her daughter had chosen someone to receive the award, it would have been Emily. The inscription on the award reads " The Ashley Bateh Spirit Award, presented to Emily Morrison for courage, love of life, Positive outlook and overall spirit of giving".
After graduation Calvin and I visited Brian. In their house there is a small step going from one room to another. I wasn't aware of the step and fell flat. Unfortunately it resulted in an afternoon at the emergency room and a visit to an orthepedic surgeon yesterday. I am in a boot of sorts and limited on my activities. I am fortunate it was just a broken bone in my right foot and not something more serious.
Charlie is having fun with Lucy and Sweetie. More fun than Sweetie and Lucy. lol He was pretty unhappy about being caged for being too playful. However he and Lucy did snuggle up at naptime.
