Windy day in the Keys

Well, the wind does blow in the keys and when it blows it really blows. It started last night and the trailer rocked until about noon today. We hung out here all morning and then went to Islamardo for lunch. Found Bob's Bunz which was recommended by the granddaughters. After lunch came home. I sewed a bit, Calvin and
Charlie napped a lot. Calvin decided it was time for some seafood so we went back to Islamardo and ate at an outdoor fish market. Nice place. That is where the pics below were taken. Calvin said if I posted a pic of him I had to put one of me on so....
The food was good. This is a very expensive place to vacation.
The weather man says the wind will be stronger tomorrow plus a chance of rain. Good thing the mens Australian open finals and the super bowl are on TV tomorrow.
Ok, back to the water. At noon the water was a pale aqua green. When we went to dinner around 5:30 the water was a bright blue. It just keeps changing from one beautiful color to the next beautiful color.

Key West

I can't say it enough....the water here is out of the world beautiful. The colors go from lime green to aqua to dark blue with purple strips.
We drove to Key West this afternoon. While there we walked down to a beach. Charlie was so funny. The waves were barely moving and had sea grass along the edge. He would run to it and when the grass moved towards him he would run or try to fight it. He really likes the beach. Haven't seen him act so doggie happy
There are bridges (miles long) with walking bridges beside them that is used for fishing. Well, I guess that is the purpose. Anyway people are lined up fishing. It is a long way down to the water. Not sure that would be my choice.
.
Took this when I went for a walk early this morning.

This fella was by the boat dock.

The water is so clear you can see the fish.

These are in the water next to the walk that goes by the trailer.

This is the old seven mile bridge. Runs beside the 'new' seven mile bridge. Bridges, bridges, everywhere bridges.

Long Key

We arrived at our park mid afternoon. We are about midway between Key Largo and Key West. The park isn't as fancy smancy as I thought it would be but it is nice. We are about 50 feet from the water. The water is just beautiful. All shades of blues and greens. Just so amazing. It is certainly a water lovers paradise. There are a lot of really old people here. We are the kids here. However age doesn't keep people from acting goofy. We went to the little cantina here in the park for supper and there were a lot of old folks there for happy hour. One thing we have to do while we are here find Bob's Buns. According to Emily (she did taste tests at numerous Key eateries) Bob has the best Key Lime pie.

Pictures taken from the car. Both sides of the road coming into the keys.

Right outside the door.

Lion Country Safari Rv Park

We had a wonderful day. The fence that devides the RV park and the Lion Safari park is about 150 ft from where we have the trailer parked. We could hear the lions roaring in the night and several times this morning. We didn't realize we were so close to them. We took the drive this morning. Charlie couldn't go. Didn't want him to be a snack for the lions. It has been a great day. We leave in the morning for the Keys. We are staying at Fiesta Key RV Resort. www.fiestakeyrvresort.com We will be in on the beach and there will be a super bowl party in the cantina on Sunday.

Tuesday -Loxahatchee, FL

Got a late start. Had to do a little shopping to replenish the cupboard. It sure seemed to take a long time to get here. We were all really tired when we finally got here. We would have stopped sooner but had reservations for this place. We are in what is considered West Palm Beach. Arrived about 4:30. Calvin and Charlie grilled for dinner. We took a walk after dinner and settled in for the night with TV and email. We may stay here two nights. Depends on what we find to do.

Got out early and took a yoga class with Terri as teacher. She is so good!!! Calvin had some erronds to run. Took Charlie to the beauty parlor. He came out looking good and acting the same. After picking up the girls at school we fixed dinner and played Cosmic ball before coming home to our little home on wheels. We are leaving in the morning for the Keys. Plan on taking our time and seeing the sights on the way. Hopefully be someplace with cable TV for super bowl Sunday.

Sunday - finally in JAX

Left early this morning. Stopped about noon for a meal. I had breakfast, Calvin and Brian had lunch. Arrived in JAX about 3:oo and after getting set up went to the Morrisons. Terri was busy at the studio so we hung out with George and the girls. George grilled beef and bison steaks. We had twice baked potatoes and a tomato, cucuber salad. Yummo. Terri got home about 7:00 and we spent a couple hours visiting and playing a cool ball game.

Just a swingin'

Emily teaching Charlie to pick kumquats.

Madeleine getting Wii fit.

This is a lemon growing in the Morrison's back yard. Hope Charlie doesn't take it for a kumquat!!

Saturday - West of Tallahassee

Had a long day of driving today. Arrived at a KOA hidden in the trees about 25 miles from Tallahassee. They have a kitchen of sorts and make and deliver pizza. So on checking in I ordered pizzas and about the time we got settled in the pizzas were delivered. The weather was great so we ate outside. I did some laundry and we had a restful evening in the trailer. Reading and watching TV.

Friday- Denham Springs, LA

Here it is Saturday already. Wow, time goes fast on vacation. Seems like we have been in La for a long time. Should be getting to Fla today. We are on the east side of Baton Rouge. Really had a time getting here yesterday. The wind was really blowing hard and hitting us sideways. Then traffic was stalled in Baton Roughe due to an accident. We turned when we should have gone straight and got seperated from Brian. Thank God for cell phones. Wasn't a big deal except took a bit more time. The park is nice. Has a doggie park which Charlie liked. It rained some last night. Has been a long time since we heard rain. Hopefully some of the west TX dust got washed off the trailer.

Shreveport

We had a very pleasant day. Spent a leisurely morning. Left late and got to Shreveport about 12:30. Got checked in and had lunch. Rested awhile and then Calvin and I went to the casino for about one and half hours. Didn't take us long to lose the farm. Brian stayed here at the RV for some bonding time with Charlie. While Calvin was grilling outside we met a couple from Virginia who had just bought a new motor home in Denton and are on their way to Florida. They had just gone to Wal-mart to buy dishes etc and were trying to get set up. She invited me in to look at the motor home which pleased me. I was very curious. Anyway, they were having problems getting the TV to work so Brian helped them with that. Just had dinner and watching a little TV before off to bed. No pictures today.

We arrived in the Dallas area late yesterday. Set up at an RV park 4 miles from Forny. Had a light dinner and spent the evening watching TV.
Today, went to Pam's. We spent some time shopping and then went to the Thai place to eat lunch. We have been to this restaurant several time and alway enjoy the food and of course the company. Spent the afternoon just hanging out. Met Max for dinner at a Mexican food restaurant. It was so good spending time with Pamela. Charlie was a little uncertain about the big dogs. Ginger and Duke took up with Brian immediately.

Take a Year-End Attitude Inventory

It's a wise custom to end an old year and begin a new one with serious self-reflection. What did you learn this year that can improve your life and make you a better person?

Start by examining the way you think and feel about your job, your relationships, and yourself. After all, the single most important factor in personal happiness and your impact on others is your attitude.

In the geometry of life, the axiom is "positive attitudes produce positive results." They make success more likely, failures less harmful, pleasures more frequent, and pain more bearable. Some people tend to bring warm sunshine wherever they go; others bring cold chills. What do you bring?

To find out where you can improve, take an honest inventory of your predispositions, the attitude you're most likely to start with.

. Are you generally optimistic or pessimistic?
. Do you tend to assume the best or expect the worst of people?
. Is your first instinct to be empathetic or judgmental?
. Is your first instinct to be supportive or critical?
. Do you send the message that you enjoy life or that you're barely enduring it?
. Do you come across as the captain of your own ship or simply a passenger?

Wherever you are on the positive-attitude spectrum, think how much better things could be if you were more consistently and self-consciously optimistic, empathetic, supportive, grateful, enthusiastic, hopeful, and cheerful.

So why not resolve to think, act, and speak more positively about yourself, your family, your coworkers, and everyone else in your life?

Holidays

Our holidays have been pretty quite. We went to Alishas a couple weekends before Christmas for a nice visit. We took the travel trailer and was able to park it in their driveway, so that was good for all.
Brian has been in West Texas for about two weeks. It is great having him here.

Brian made the mistake of trying to take a snooze on the patio in Charlies chair.

When the kids were young my aunt Sadie would send them a box of 'stuff' she had gathered over the year. She wrapped each little gift and the kids took turns picking a gift until the box was empty. This year Terri sent us an Aunt Sadie fun box

.
Papa got a gift of beautiful, much needed hair. He also got some really snazzy glitter fingernails. He's saving those for a special occassion.
